January 12, 2016: Superintendent George Arlotto announced that Anne Arundel County Public Schools will hold four community forums in late January and early February to provide information and solicit feedback regarding a proposal to shift school start and dismissal times--pending full funding and broad community support--beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. February 2, 4, & 8, 2016: Anne Arundel County Public Schools community forums on Superintendent George Arlotto's proposed start and dismissal time model (December 2015). A formal survey regarding the Superintdent's proposed model was available from February 8 through February 14.
February 17, 2016: the BOE discussed the Superintendent's Recommended Fiscal Year 2017 Operating Budget, which included Superintendent George Arlotto’s proposed start and dismissal time model (December 2015). Ultimately, the Board voted to remove the recommended $8.1 million dollars allocated to change school start & dismissal times. The Board then voted to add $1.4 million for a possible change to start times back into the budget. The Board then asked Dr. Arlotto to present additional School Start & Dismissal Time options for the 2017-2018 school year at the BOE meeting on April 20, 2016.
