High School Quarterly Assessments
In 2016, AACPS transitioned from a semester exam system with district benchmarks to one assessment system -- quarterly assessments for each course. This transition eliminated most district benchmarks in favor of one assessment per quarter per course that served teachers' needs for classroom evaluation and district needs to monitor student progress.
In addition to quarterly assessments, students take the PARCC English 10 Assessment and the PARCC Algebra I Assessment while students in US Government and Biology take Maryland High School Assessments.
Depending upon the student's plan (IEP, 504, EL), the appropriate accommodations found in Section 5 of the Maryland Accommodations Manual and accommodations found in the PARCC Accommodations Manual are made available to each student when appropriate for assessments.
Although all courses will require students to take a quarterly assessment worth 10% of their quarter grade, only courses listed below have required common district assessments. These assessments were created by classroom teachers with the support of content office staff. Quarterly assessments occur during the last four days of each marking period.
